Q: What is an Authenticator?
A:
An Authenticator is a small device (token) or a mobile phone app that can be tied to your account. It generates security codes to provide an extra layer of security to your account.
There are various Authenticator apps available for both Android and iPhone OS. You can use these apps to get codes even if you don’t have an internet connection or mobile service.

Q: How can I get an Authenticator?
A: There are many free Authenticator apps available. One of the more popular ones is Google Authenticator. You can download Google Authenticator from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Q: What do I need to add the Authenticator to my Cherry account?
A: You would need to fulfil the following requirements in order to add Authenticator in your Cherry account:

  • Verified Mobile number in your Cherry account
  • An Authenticator app in your mobile phone
  • The 6-digit security pin you had set for your Cherry account
  • The password to your Cherry account

Q: How can I remove Authenticator from my Cherry account?
A:
We strongly advise against removing the Authenticator from your Cherry account as your account security level will be affected. However, if you have lost your Authenticator, you are strongly advised to switch back to your 6-digit security pin to protect your Cherry account.

Step 1: Log in to your Cherry account and select the Settings symbol (⚙) in the top menu bar.

Step 2: Click “Change” next to “Authenticator”.

Step 3: Click “Lost your Authenticator?” to proceed.

Step 4: Key in the password to your Cherry account to proceed.

Step 5: Enter the OTP that was sent to your mobile phone.

Step 6: Select “SWITCH BACK TO 6-DIGIT PIN”.

Step 7: Key in your new 6-digit pin and click “Confirm” to proceed. You will need to re-enter your 6-digit pin again to re-confirm your new pin number.

Step 8: Click “Submit” to proceed.

Step 9: You have successfully switched from your Cherry Authenticator to your 6-digit pin!

Q: I have lost my mobile phone with my Authenticator app. What should I do?
A: If you have lost your Authenticator, please switch to 6-digit security pin as soon as possible to, so as not to compromise the security of your account. Refer to the steps in "How can I remove Authenticator from my Cherry account?"

Q: Do I need to be connected to the internet to use my Authenticator app?
A: No, your mobile phone does not need to be connected to the internet for you to use your Authenticator app.

Q: I want to change my phone. How does this affect my Authenticator?
A: In order to change your phone, you would need to download an Authenticator app in your new phone and reset your Authenticator in your Cherry account. You must have both phones to reset your Authenticator in your Cherry account. To reset your Authenticator, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Log in to your Cherry account and select the Settings symbol (⚙) in the top menu bar.

Step 3: Click “Lost your Authenticator?” to proceed.

Step 5: Enter the OTP that was sent to your mobile phone.

Step 6: Select “Add New Authenticator” to proceed.

Step 7: Follow the instructions on screen. You should see a barcode and a key code for manual entry. Leave your browser open, do not click out of the pop-up where the barcode appears.

Step 8: Open your Authenticator app in your new mobile phone and tap the “+” button to add accounts.

Step 9: The quickest way is to use your mobile phone camera to scan the barcode as shown in Step 7. Please tap “Scan a barcode”.

Step 10: After scanning the barcode, your Cherry Credits account will automatically be added in your Authenticator app. You will see your 6 digit passcode generated there.

Step 11: Enter the 6-digit passcode generated in your Authenticator.
